Laura Curliss Bill Horne
Curliss to Face Horne in Democratic May Primary
Laura Curliss the executive assistant to the Mayor of the City of Wilmington, has announced her candidacy for State Representative of the 86th District of the Ohio Legislature. Ms. Curliss is a graduate of the Blanchester high school, where she was born and raised, and continued her education by recieveing a Master of Divinity degree from Yale, and a law degree from the University of Notre Dame . She worked two years for a federal judge, served in private a practice, worked as an assistant prosecutor dealing mainly with adult felony cases and civil case work for the township trustees and fire districts, and in City Aministration for 6 years with the City of Wilmington. The values of the people of southwest Ohio are my own values, and the bedrock of my actions and faith she said, but the main focus of this campaign will be JOBS, JOBS,,JOBS. It is important that we think globally and creatively, but buy locally to boost our local economy and play up to our strengths and local assets. Ms. Curliss lives in Wilmington with her husband Pat who is the medical director and CEO for Community Care Hospice, which serves Clinton and Highland counties and her son Michael 13, who attends middle school in Wilmington.
Bill Horne lives on a family farm in Highland County with his wife Connie and has two children Benjamin and Kathy and one grandson Zach. He served in the Army and graduated college with the help of the GI Bill. He is a Professor of Economics at Southern State University, a businessman, a former manager of a manufacturing facility plant, and an active civic and community leader. He feels that the future of the 86th District depends on the creative and courageous approaches taken to deal with todays problems. He feels some of the issues facing the 86th District are the loss of thousands of jobs, taxes that have reached record levels, the cost of college tuition that has risen to more than 50% of the national average, the funding of schools, and the health care issue that has left children, seniors and families uninsured. He feels that Ohio has been heading in the wrong direction and needs leaders with a vision to change that trend. I am a proven leader he said and with your support I will fight for good jobs, quality education and affordable health care for all Ohioans.
