About
I'm Yvette McGee Brown, Ted's running mate
and candidate for Lieutenant Governor. I wanted
to take a moment to introduce myself and ask
for your support.
Since joining the
campaign last month, I've been traveling across
the state to talk to Ohioans about what Ted has
been doing to lay the foundation for long-term
growth.
Creating jobs is about creating
opportunity. That's exactly what Ted has been
doing. He's fought for middle-class families by
reforming education, investing in high-growth
industries like advanced energy and making Ohio
a better place to do business. These efforts
are the cornerstones of our economic recovery.
You know that Ohio has a history of
close elections. This campaign will be no
exception. To invest in opportunity and create
an economy that works for all Ohio families,
Ted and I need to win in November.
Ted believes in Ohio because, at its best,
Ohio is the state of opportunity. And
opportunity is something that I am especially
passionate about.
My mother had me when
she was just a teenager. She raised me and my
two brothers on her own. Though she was a
full-time mom, she worked two jobs to pay the
bills.
And thanks to my mom's hard
work, I was able to take advantage of the
incredible opportunities that Ohio provides. I
went to Ohio University, attended law school at
Ohio State and became a judge in Franklin
County. After nearly a decade, I retired from
the bench to create the Center for Child and
Family Advocacy, a national model of
coordinated treatment and support for children
and families experiencing abuse.
I have
been extraordinarily lucky to benefit from
Ohio's opportunities. That's why I've
devoted my life to public service, and that's
why I'm running for Lieutenant Governor: to
ensure that every Ohioan has the same
opportunities I had.
My mother
taught me everything I know about hard work.
When Ted and I launched our campaign last
month, I couldn't have been more proud to have
her standing by me. As a candidate and as
Lieutenant Governor, I'll follow her example
and work as hard as I can to create opportunity
for families across Ohio.
Thanks for
all the support you've given Ted, and though
it's only been a month, thanks for all the
support you've already given me. I look forward
to meeting you on the campaign trail.
Yvette
