White Labels Taft Speech Payback For Republicans

Columbus- The following is a statement from Ohio Democratic Party Chair Dennis L. White in response to the State of the State speech by Governor Bob Taft earlier today.

"You might as well have considered Bob Taft's speech inside the Statehouse a de facto fundraiser for the Republican Party's large corporate donors and millionaire funders."

"There are few coincidences in politics. In December, Ohio changed the law to allow direct political donations by multi-national corporations and millionaire moguls to Republican campaigns. It's not suprising to see that priority number one for Ohio Republicans is to decrease corporate taxes and taxes on millionaires."

"If you are a middle class family or small business owner in Ohio - beware. You are about to be nickel-and-dimed with more state and local tax burdens and fees for parks and extra-curricular school programs in exchange for a return of less police, less firemen and less teachers and school services. Bob Taft still doesn't get it."
